Under the DCF Protocol, digital unit retirement is irreversible. Once a digital unit is burned and the corresponding registry credit is retired, the action cannot be undone. The protocol does not support rollback, reinstatement, clawbacks, or discretionary reversal of retired credits. DCF is not a custodian, trustee, transfer agent, broker, dealer, exchange, bank, payment processor, validator, miner, node operator, market maker, or fiduciary. DCF does not hold customer funds, accept deposits, facilitate fiat settlement, provide liquidity, or engage in money-transmission activities. Authority under the protocol is limited to defining lifecycle rules and integrity constraints that apply uniformly across all participants. DCF acts solely as a protocol sponsor and administrator. Where digital carbon units are issued, issuance occurs only after verified carbon credits have been immobilized and strictly in accordance with documented protocol rules. The DCF does not issue securities, does not raise capital, and does not issue digital carbon units for fundraising, investment, or capital-formation purposes.
Digital carbon units may represent whole or fractional portions of verified carbon credits, provided that aggregate digital supply never exceeds the underlying immobilized registry credits. Fractionalization does not create additional credits and does not alter the environmental attributes of the underlying asset. Digital carbon units governed by the DCF Protocol do not confer ownership, profit participation, voting rights, dividends, or claims on revenues. They do not represent equity, debt, or investment interests in DCF or in any carbon project developer. Use of the DCF Protocol and related digital units is subject to applicable laws, sanctions regimes, and compliance requirements imposed by custody providers, trading venues, registries, and counterparties. The DCF does not operate customer onboarding, KYC, AML, or sanctions screening programs and relies on regulated intermediaries to apply applicable financial crime controls. DCF does not bypass, override, or substitute for compliance frameworks implemented by third parties.
