Carbon markets have historically been constrained by bilateral settlement, limited transparency, and fragmented access. The DCF Protocol addresses these constraints through standardized digital representation of verified credits while preserving registry reconciliation and retirement integrity. Liquidity under the protocol is achieved through standardization, divisibility, transparent provenance, and predictable supply behavior rather than through price support, redemption commitments, monetary policy, liquidity incentives, or financial engineering. Digital carbon units governed by the DCF Protocol may be exchanged between counterparties through supported market venues, subject to applicable platform rules and regulatory requirements. The DCF does not control listings, set prices, guarantee convertibility, guarantee spreads, or guarantee market availability. The DCF Protocol is marketplace-agnostic and ledger-neutral. Digital units may move across supported venues, custody providers, and public-ledger networks that elect to integrate the protocol, subject to their own compliance and listing requirements.
The DCF does not operate a marketplace, does not privilege any venue or ledger, and does not endorse any political, monetary, economic, or market agenda. The DCF Protocol is designed to be neutral, non-partisan, and resistant to capture by any single market participant, jurisdiction, blockchain, public ledger, political authority, or liquidity provider. Protocol rules apply uniformly to all participants and are not designed to advance fiscal, monetary, validator, or market-making objectives. The DCF Protocol is designed as durable public infrastructure rather than a short-term application. Governance, documentation, and lifecycle rules are structured to support long-term continuity, enterprise adoption, public-sector use, institutional reliance, and sustained market participation.
